Stannard - Rose Family History

The information on this is the result of several years of research into the history of the following families with ties to South Africa, all of whom arrived in this country from around the turn of the 19th Century and dawn of the 20th Century.

Dorothy P Saunders & Robert N Stannard

STANNARD: originally from Long Stratton, Norfolk, who arrived in South Africa via Victoria, Australia when Robert James STANNARD and his wife, Mary PHILLIPS, both born in Australia, immigrated here in the early 1900's;
SAUNDERS: from the Salisbury area of Wiltshire, who arrived in South Africa from Wiltshire when Herbert Ethey SAUNDERS and his wife, Elizabeth INGS immigrated here in the early 1900's.  They married in Cape Town in 1893, before settling in Vryheid prior to the start of the Anglo-Boer War;

Ethel D Hermanson & Alfred W H Rose

ROSE: from the Frome area of Somerset, who arrived in the country when Alfred William Henry ROSE immigrated to South Africa from England in search of a better life in 1925.  He met and married Ethel Dorothy HERMANSON in South Africa in 1930;
HERMANSON: latterly of Stockholm, Sweden, who arrived in South Africa when Walfrid Theodor HERMANSON (born Walfrid Theordor Johansson HERMANN) left his native Sweden for South Africa in 1896.  He met and married Ethel Maud SELLER in South Africa in 1901.
